Who are these sultry songstresses and why are they igniting so much buzz? The Bonfyre and Snoh Aalegra have emerged as heavy hitters in the R&B game and will be bringing soulful vibes to this year's ONE Musicfest!
The Bonfyre’s creative mission is for her music to resonate with people in a way of comfort and dopeness, where all emotions are welcomed.
Originally hailing from a small town in Massachusetts, the songstress got her start in music growing up with heavy influence from her interactions with Polynesian culture and her families musical talents. After moving to Atlanta, she spent years grinding and developing her style. While trusting the process, she reminded us that artist development does not have to be a lost art.
The Bonfyre got her break into the mainstream after meeting with L.A. Reid in 2018, where she was signed to his new label Hitco. After putting out a few videos on YouTube, a club owner discovered the young talent and invited her to perform at his venue. Little did she know this opportunity would lead to a huge stepping stone in her career. She garnered the attention of super producers Yancey Richardson and Raphael Saadiq (another iconic artist from the OMF 2019 lineup).
The Bonfyre dropped her first EP ‘Ready To Love’ back in August of 2018 with features from R&B legends Evelyn “Champagne” King and Blackstreet. Her hit single “Automatic” gradually climbed the charts and recently landed a feature from the Maybach Music pioneer, Rick Ross. Providing a delicate mixture of soulful, almost ethereal, pop vocals and a rhythm that grooves, it is clear The Bonfyre will remain lit.
The Swedish singer and songwriter, Snoh Aalegra is known for her unique sound. Providing a movie-like experience in her music, she describes her sound as “Cinematic Soul;” a mix of R&B, soul, orchestral music, and hip-hop.
Aalegra discovered her love for music at a very young age and was signed to a record label at the age of 14. With the groundbreaking Prince as her mentor, Aalegra was encouraged to find her individuality and truly shape her image and sound as an artist. Following the advice of her mentor, Aalegra eventually left her label and sought the independent route which has proven to be very fitting for her. As a result of staying true to herself and developing a unique sound, she was highlighted in collaborations with artists such as Drake, Common, and John Mayer, just to name a few.
The soulful R&B artist now has two EPs under her belt There Will Be Sunshine, which was released during her time with EPIC Records, and Don’t Explain, her 25-minute film-like independent project that describes a past relationship. Aalegra was in the process of working on a third EP when she realized that she had enough material for her debut album. With around 50 songs in her vault, she combined her potential EPs into one body of work, titled FEELS. Snoh Aalegra shines with her soulful vocals and will be bringing all the ‘feels’ to ONE Music Fest this year!
